Here at Madison Sanders Events we place high priority on allowing our couples to be truly present with one another during their engagement…wedding planning should be fun, should feel special, celebratory and stress-free. It is always our hope that, with our help, couples can spend time talking about their future spent together in marriage instead of logistics and details regarding the wedding. We pride ourselves in wedding planning and event design with a focus on the beauty of marriage! The first year of marriage can be full of both joys and tough lessons learned and we feel so fortunate to get to stay in touch and “cheer on” our couples as they embark on that next chapter! Meet Newlywed Mr. & Mrs., Libby & Kevin.
My name is Libby and my husband’s name is Kevin. In December of 2015 we became Mr. & Mrs. Starr! We live in Kansas City and have many friends and family nearby. I am a speech-language pathologist at a school and Kevin is in dental sales.
How long were you engaged before your wedding?
We were engaged for 8 months before our wedding…it wasn’t too long or too short.
What do you wish you would have known while planning your wedding? What advice do you have to give to brides and grooms currently in the planning process?
My advice is to try to fall somewhere in the middle of being a complete control freak and needing constant advice on decisions for the wedding day. Have an opinion, but not so many that you frustrate those that are planning with you. Make sure you are nice to those who are helping you! This includes your planner, vendors, family and friends. We were so lucky to have so much support along the way!
Describe your wedding to us in your own words. What details did you love the most?
Our wedding was first and foremost a celebration of our relationship and love. We could feel the excitement and support from everyone who attended and especially those who had watched us grow up together.
Some of the things that made our wedding special to us were our personal written vows, Kevin’s comedic bridal party introductions and the meaningful toasts presented by our family members. Our wedding design would not have been possible without my mom. We like very similar styles but she is the one who makes an idea come to life . We loved our elegant floral arrangements (by Beco Flowers) and our displays. The barn itself was beautiful as it sat upon the hill with lights and music coming from indoors.
What does life look like for you as a couple now that the wedding is behind you?
Our life now looks like a “normal life”…which is so very refreshing after planning a wedding. While life is not always a picnic or an epic party, it is our life together and that’s the most important thing. It feels great to go to work and come home to each other. We enjoy being at home, but also continue to have fun with our friends and spend time with our families.
